BIO

Dr. Saleem has always known that he wanted to become a doctor. As far back as he can remember, he would listen to his parents, both physicians, discuss interesting cases. He was influenced by their love and dedication to the field of medicine. He graduated from RUSM, and following a year as a Clinical Research Fellow at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency in Baltimore, Maryland, before entering Hospital Medicine. After six years of Hospitalist experience, he decided to enter a Nephrology Fellowship program at the University of Arizona.

Dr Saleem’s initial intrigue with Nephrology came from his Nephrology clinical clerkship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he was first exposed to the vast array of renal diseases. His time in hospital medicine also exposed him to the critical role a Nephrologist plays in the treatment of chronic diseases, the myriad of autoimmune diseases, and in critically ill patients.

Upon completion of his Chief Fellow year, Dr. Saleem decided to join KSOSN. It was an easy decision for him to choose an elite group of Nephrologists from all over the world with one common goal of providing excellence in all aspects of Nephrology. He enjoys the camaraderie at KSOSN, and every day his colleagues inspire him to become a better physician.

Dr. Saleem has particular interests in inpatient management of electrolyte abnormalities and critically ill patients. Outside of the clinical arena, he is a Principal Investigator in ESRD clinical trials. However, the most meaningful part of his day is in his CKD Clinic, where he not only takes upon himself a challenge to improve the health of his patients, but where he can foster meaningful relationships. He believes that successful clinical outcomes begin with doctor-patient trust.
