BIO
Dr. Saleem always knew that he wanted to become a doctor. He graduated from RUSM, and following a year as a Clinical Research Fellow at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency in Baltimore, Maryland, before entering Hospital Medicine. After six years of Hospitalist experience, he decided to enter a Nephrology Fellowship program at the University of Arizona.
Dr Saleem’s initial intrigue with Nephrology came from his Nephrology clinical clerkship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he was first exposed to the vast array of renal diseases. His time in hospital medicine also exposed him to the critical role a Nephrologist plays in the treatment of chronic diseases, the myriad of autoimmune diseases, and in critically ill patients.
While Chief Fellow at the University of AZ, Dr. Saleem decided to join KSOSN. It was an easy decision for him to choose an elite group of Nephrologists from all over the world with one common goal of providing excellence in all aspects of Nephrology. He enjoys the camaraderie at KSOSN, and every day his colleagues inspire him to become a better physician. Dr. Saleem has particular interests in inpatient management of electrolyte abnormalities and critically ill patients. Outside of the clinical arena, he is a Principal Investigator in various ESKD clinical trials.
Dr. Saleem grew up in British Columbia, Canada, where he spent every minute outside of school playing outdoor sports. He later played varsity basketball and will cancel any engagement if the NBA playoffs are on. These days, if he isn’t busy manicuring his backyard, he enjoys swimming, Korean BBQ, and traveling with his family.
