For Dr. Jay Chu, there is a necessary balance in caring for patients, akin to the
philosophy of yin and yang. Science and art, professional and personal, long-term, and immediate. In his
nephrology practice, he has found the ideal balance.

Addressing all aspects of disease management, Dr. Chu works with his patients long-term, developing strategies to
enhance their quality of life, as well as providing for their immediate acute care needs. He enjoys fostering
one-on-one relationships with patients, as well as collaborating with a multi-disciplinarian team of specialists
contributing to their care. Dr. Chu feels the patient is the most essential member of a healthcare team. He
believes in open and candid communications and in providing his patients with the information and insight they
need to make the best personal decision in an often-complex medical situation.

Dr. Chu received his medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine in Portland,
Oregon. He completed his internal medicine training at UCLA medical center / VA Greater Los Angeles in 2007. He
completed his clinical and research fellowship in nephrology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein
College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York City, in 2009.

In his free time, Dr. Chu enjoys international travel. He is also proficient in computer programming and
statistical analysis and has a keen interest in the adaptation of technology in healthcare to improve medical
communication and efficiency.
