When your interests and passions intersect with an urgent need you know you have found the right profession. So, it was for Dr. Seyedqumars Mirfendereski and the field of nephrology. In nephrology, Dr. Mirfendereski found the perfect mix of challenging science and rewarding clinical work at a time when the number of people being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and requiring specialized care has skyrocketed.

Originally from Iran, Dr. Mirfendereski earned his Medical Degree at Guilan University of Medical Sciences before coming to New York to complete his medical education. His background includes a year of residency in anesthesiology, as well as teaching internal medicine residents at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, experience that helps him communicate well with patients’ primary care physicians ensuring continuity of care.

In his practice, Dr. Mirfendereski works to engage his patients as active members of their care team. He believes that continuous patient education not only improves outcomes, but also helps alleviate fear and reduce the anxiety that results from living with a chronic disease. Within nephrology, Dr. Mirfendereski has particular interest in electrolyte abnormalities and glomerular disorders. He is Board Certified in Nephrology. Dr. Mirfendereski has been a certified hypertension specialist since 2012.

Dr. Mirfendereski is married and has two young daughters. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the West with his family.
